The state governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu also directed all tertiary institutions under the government to reopen on September 14.
“I am pleased to announce that our tertiary institution are going to be allowed to reopen from September 14, 2020, all our tertiary institutions,” Sanwo-Olu said at a press briefing on Saturday.
“As regards our primary and secondary schools, we are working towards reopening them round the 21st of September 2020. This position isn't cast in stone and subject to a review of our ongoing monitoring and procedures from the ministry of health.”
“Remember that we said that the virus will peak and that we will flatten the curve within the month of August. From what we've seen, it appears we've flattened the curve. within the last fortnight , we've continued to ascertain a drop by the positivity that we've encountered within the state.”
Schools were shut indefinitely in March to see the spread of COVID-19.
Only SS3 students participating within the ongoing West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) are allowed in schools for now.
Earlier within the month, the governor lifted a four-month ban on worship centres.
