The Coalition of Northern Groups has written to President Muhammadu Buhari on the interference with investigation and aiding of banditry and criminal activities by politicians and a few individuals.
During a jointly signed statement by CNG spokesman Abdul-Azeez Suleiman and CNG coordinator Zamfara Bilyaminu Aliyu, the party claimed that the intervention had resulted in further attacks on the party. and properties of individuals within the Northern a part of the country.
It also said that, with alarming reports of bandits and internal collaborators exploiting a huge vacuum of political will to weaken security measures, things in Zamfara were getting worse by the day.
The declaration reads in part, "Unless the presidency orders the immediate re-arrest and It risks a major dent on its reputation to return to the custody of the said politicians and all other suspected associates for proper investigation and return to the proper prosecution of the custody.
“That Mr President under duty to reclaim his statesmanship by ordering a full investigation into the circumstances that led to the suspicious release of the these and other suspects from lawful custody, outside due process of law would.
“That a transparent action to work out the extent of involvement of persons on the brink of him within the interruption of criminal proceedings against suspected bandits and collaborators in Zamfara and other places within the North would restore public confidence in Mr President's will and capacity to secure the state .
“That Mr President has the requirement to revive the morale of nation's security and law and order assets by ensuring the immediate end to undue partisan influence on the Police duties, Department of State Services and other law and order properties that are responsible for protecting the lives and property of all Nigerians.
The panel urged the President to direct all security agencies to hold out their duties unhindered.
“We encourage Mr. President and the security forces of the agency to renew their commitment to address the security problems in Zamfara and other parts of the North with commitment and understanding of their obligations under the law, also because the knowledge that victory will only be pronounced when the state achieves full cessation of hostilities, disarmament, demobilization and reintegration within the entire region.”
