PDP Reps Caucus Condemns Siege on Governors By Security Agents

The Peoples Democratic Party caucus within the House of Representatives has condemned the clampdown on its governors by security agents in Benin, Edo State, on the instructions of the Inspector-General of Police before Saturday’s governorship election.

Chinda said, "The caucus finds the ongoing siege of Nigerian police and other security officials by governors as alarming and inappropriate before the election."

Nigerians should be inclined to free movement, association and, in particular, freedom of association, as a democratic society, the right to vote for their chiots' leaders to govern the affairs.

Security agencies, however, have abandoned their core duties to lay siege to governors who are bent on fulfilling their legitimate duties in the state of Edo.

The caucus wants to draw Mr. President's eye to immediately wade into the matter and encourage the people of the Edo State to vote for their choices.
