Commissioner for Finance within the state, Alhaji Rabiu Garba, raised the alarm during an appointment with journalists in Gusau, the capital, on Tuesday.
He said finance records showed that the cash was allocated and transferred in two tranches but the cash was diverted, PM News reported.

"Garba said," The previous administration within the state had transferred the amount of N10.8bn from the N37bn reimbursed by the federal to the state for the construction of 14 federal roads based on the records available to us.

“We also discovered that in May 2019, N10.8bn was transferred to the project account of the university by the previous administration in the name of State University construction.
“The amount was transferred in two tranches, that's N5 billion each, and subsequently, N850m was also transferred to an equivalent account on 9th May 2019.
“But instead that the quantity transferred to be used for the said project, the cash was diverted to other issues that don't have anything to try to to with The project at university.
Dismissing the accusation, Alhaji Mukhtar Idris, the Commissioner for Finance under Yari 's administration, said it was politically motivated.
Idris said the past administration had initiated a special account for the university project, advising Garba and therefore the government to verify issues before going public.
He added that projects were executed at the location of the university with a part of the cash , while a balance was left within the project account.
"He said," N4bn was left within the record of the money to be expressed by the new Finance Commissioner and Rabiu Garba and is a section of the money acquired by this organisation.
