Some gunmen suspected of being bandits shot and killed one of Alhaji Muntari Mai Yadi on Monday before kidnapping his son, Usman, in Yankara city under Katsina State's Faskari government district.
Sources said that the incident occurred at around 11:00pm.
A son of the deceased, Younusa Mukhar Yankara, during a Facebook post confirmed the incident.
He said, "It happened: my dad, Alhaji Muntari Mai Yadi, was killed by robbers, and my brother Usman was shielded."

We are from God and we will return to Him. Thieves came into our house and killed my father and went with usman my brother and answered my phone with plastic my motorcycle key.
"At 11:00pm they came in. The soldiers delivered to Faskari aren't useful. "May God forgive us for this government, may God forgive my father.'
The victim was laid to rest at his residence on Tuesday, in accordance with Islamic rites.
